The cloud offers many opportunities for companies and public authorities. Entire infrastructures can be centralized on the platform of a cloud service provider. At the same time, individual applications are available globally and around the clock. Especially for teams and projects where collaboration between several locations is essential, the cloud offers decisive advantages thanks to the needs-based use of IT services such as software, storage space or computing power via data networks.
In 2019, almost three out of five of the companies were using private cloud applications, and two out of five were relying on public cloud solutions. Every third company relied on multi-cloud computing, according to a study by Bitkom Research. However, the question of cloud security remains a challenge for companies when the changeover is imminent.
When migrating to the cloud, organizations are hesitant, particularly due to uncertainties about cloud security in terms of data protection and external storage. Cloud security is at risk primarily due to these security challenges.
